What do you get if you cross runners with cyclists, a pride of Wokingham Lions, an Equine Therapy workshop, the new West Berkshire Lottery and a leading office design firm?
The answer: lots of friends in lots of places helping Younger People with Dementia (YPWD) to support people across Berkshire, diagnosed with Young Onset Dementia, providing our unique support and services, making each week a week to look forward to.
We’re really grateful to organisations including Wokingham United Charities, who recently awarded YPWD a grant to run an Equine Therapy workshop and the Wokingham Lions who recently made a donation in support of YPWD’s work. Bracknell based office design firm Morgan Lovell have also selected YPWD as their charity of the year and will be tackling the Thames Path as their first fundraising challenge. Thanks to all of you for your commitment.
There’s also the fantastic organisers of the Red Kite Bike Ride in Marlow, being held on September 1 2019, who have nominated YPWD as one of the four charities of choice for the riders in the event to raise funds for. Wishing every cyclist the best of luck and our sincere thanks.
We also need to say a big thank you to Graham Holdsworth and Harry Boyle who pounded the pavements and streets in the Reading Half Marathon in March, each completing 13 gruelling miles, while raising money for YPWD.
On 27 May there’ll be a YPWD team of six runners ticking off the sights in central London as they take part in the Vitality London 10K Run. Participant Paul Winsor says he’s enjoying, “Getting fit, while raising money for a very worthy cause,” in what will be his first ever 10K. Good luck to all.
If you fancy playing a lottery that directly contributes to Younger People with Dementia then be sure to take a look at the brand new West Berkshire Lottery. The first bit of good news is that 50p, from every £1 ticket sold will be donated to YPWD and the second bit of good news is that you’ll be in with an opportunity to win one of the many prizes, including the £25,000 jackpot.
