An afternoon on the river together

In July YPWD organised a scenic riverboat cruise trip for our attendees and their families along the River Thames in Henley.  The trip was held in our two week summer break from our workshops, enabling our attendees and family members to have some quality time with one another, socialising in an enriching and unique environment.

A day in the life with Brian Barnes, YPWD Volunteer

There are a number of very dedicated, generous and talented volunteers helping to support people with dementia and their carers throughout the working week for YPWD and we’d like to introduce Brian to everyone.  We are grateful to Brian for sharing his experiences of volunteering for YPWD twice weekly along with other details about himself that many of you may not know, such as his most favourite piece of music and that he was a Lecturer in Electrical Engineering and Engineering Maths before retirement.

Our work with the Young Dementia Network

Two of YPWD Berkshire’s trustees, Peter Watson and Dr Jacqui Hussey are members of the Young Dementia Network steering group.  This is a national group which comprises people living with young onset dementia, their family members and supporters, voluntary organisations, such as YPWD Berkshire, and professionals from health and social care with expertise in the field of young onset dementia.

Our first reviewed book featuring at the Henley Literary Festival come along and meet the author

In May we posted our thoughts on Facebook about ‘Married to Alzheimer’s: A Life Less Ordinary’ by Steph Booth.  This was part of our highlighting the dedicated dementia library service, based at the YPWD office, where our friends and their families can borrow books from our library.
